Jim Fullen, Allegheny Mountain “back-porch” singer and songwriter, has recorded two major albums – Allegheny Sound and Allegheny Mountain , available on tape or CD.
Both can be purchased on one CD: Allegheny Mountain Combine.
Jim grew up in Licking County , Ohio , located at the end of the Allegheny foothills. He presently records for Dark Horse Traditions, Toronto, Canada . His current release Up On The Mountain has done very well. Jim has charted at or near the top of the independent charts since 1994. Last year he received a Gold Record award for having over a million airplays worldwide of Hell’s Fire and Damnation.

As a 19 year old private, Jim served in the 187 th Airborne in Korea, where he was promoted to Sergeant First Class in the field, and where he often entertained this buddies with his own songs; for example, My M-1 Rifle , and Jumpboots and Parachutes .
At age 25 he married Donna ( Wilson ) and they had three children – grown up now – Mark, a high school principal; Becky, a junior high counselor; Cindy, a physical therapist.
While working his way through Ohio State University , Jim sang and recorded nationally. He lucked out with his first big hit in 1957, Rosie’s Gone Again . Dot records picked it up through Mac Wiseman (Jim then recorded as Jimmie John.) Over the next few years, George Jones recorded Jim’s Not Even Friends ; Brenda Lee, I’m Your Toy Slim Whitman, Ernest Tubb and Wayne Walker, What Kind of ‘god’ Do You Think You Are?
Jim appeared locally at Eddie and Millie Ruton’s Hillbilly Park in Newark , Ohio ; regionally on the WLW Midwestern Hayride and the WWVA Wheeling Jamboree; nationally he appeared on the WSM Grand Ole Opry and Missouri ’s Ozark Jubilee, and made many other guest appearances.
Because he could not raise a family on the money generated on the road, Jim began teaching in 1963, received his doctorate and started his professorship at the Newark Campus of OSU. He also served for twenty-three years a s the Mayor of Hanover Village and has served on a number of local commissions and advisory planning boards.
Jim has since retired. He teaches part-time, and has re-entered country music, and presently entertains all over. This father of three and grandfather of seven, you better believe, will continue to amaze radio and the music industry. Stay tuned.
